It’s monsoon time, and you know what that means – rain, rain, and more rain! But hey, that’s not all! We decided to take advantage of this awesome weather and head out to see Jog Falls, one of the coolest waterfalls in the world.
A Historical Glimpse
Jog Falls, also known as Gerusoppe Falls or Jogada Gundi, boasts a history as rich as its cascading waters. For centuries, it served as a natural border, standing witness to the rise and fall of dynasties like the mighty Vijayanagara Empire. Even the region’s royal literature couldn’t resist celebrating the awe-inspiring beauty of Jog Falls. Now, this natural wonder not only draws tourists but also plays a role in modern life, with a hydroelectric project harnessing the power of the Sharavathi River that plunges over the falls.

Motorcycle Ride
The monsoon wind in our hair, the open road stretching before us – that’s how our Jog Falls adventure began! We took off at dawn (well, 6:30 am) with my friend, meeting up in Padubidri for a quick breakfast. The ride itself was a blast. Straight highways let us open up the throttle a bit (careful riders here!), and that sweet feeling of overtaking a car? Pure satisfaction! But hey, the journey’s not just about the destination. Keep your eyes peeled because you might just stumble upon hidden gems like Marvante Beach. Trust me, it’s a must-see in the monsoon, even if the strong winds make it a little crazy (but that’s part of the fun). Stay tuned for more monsoon madness as we get closer to the magnificent Jog Falls!

Our Motorcycle Adventure Starts through Sharavati Valley Wildlife Sanctuary
Well, Dense forest preserves are home to tigers, leopards & lion-tailed macaques, with cascades like Jog Falls. The ride to Jog Falls wasn’t just scenic, it was an adventure! Lush forests, home to all sorts of amazing animals (tigers, leopards, even lion-tailed macaques!), surrounded the road. It was breathtaking, but let’s be honest, a little spooky at times, especially for solo riders. Dense tree cover made the roads dark, and the monsoon rain added a layer of challenge with potholes hiding in wait. Check out these cool pics of the incredible scenery – waterfalls, mountains, and even some dramatic monsoon clouds.

Roads that lead to the beauty
Reaching Jog Falls
Even with the mighty Jog Falls marked clearly on Google Maps, let’s just say our arrival wasn’t exactly textbook. Somehow, our trusty navigator took us to an off-road adventure that was in order! This little detour, combined with some well-deserved monsoon breaks and a heroic puppy rescue (more on that later!), meant we arrived a bit later than planned. Now, for the reality check. Those Instagram reels might make Jog Falls look easily accessible, but safety first! Unfortunately, reaching the base of the falls has been off-limits for a couple of years now. But fear not, we weren’t leaving empty-handed (or empty-memoried!). Check out these awesome pictures we captured – the power and beauty of Jog Falls still shone through!

Well, folks, that’s all for our Jog Falls adventure! Getting there was a bit of a crazy ride thanks to Google Maps, and we couldn’t reach the bottom of the falls (safety first!), but it was still amazing. We saw incredible scenery, helped a shivering puppy find shelter, and captured some awesome pictures of Jog Falls in all its monsoon glory.
Just a heads up: If you’re planning a monsoon trip to Jog Falls, check beforehand to see where you can go. The views from the official spots are still incredible, even if you can’t get super close. And if you have time, explore the surrounding area – you never know what you might find!
Most importantly, be safe during the monsoon, especially near waterfalls.
Thanks for joining us on this monsoon motorcycle adventure! We hope you enjoyed the ride, even the unexpected parts. Have a great day!
